
Senior Legal & Compliance Associate (FR/ENG)

- Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes and ensure company policies and procedures comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Develop and update compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments.
- Review Service Level Agreements, Purchase Agreements, and SOP Manuals to ensure incorporation of applicable regulatory laws.
- Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks across the organization.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies and controls.
- Monitor and report on compliance risk exposure and effectiveness of mitigation strategies.
- Investigations & Reporting:
- Conduct investigations into compliance breaches and issues, ensuring thorough and timely resolution.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of compliance activities.
- Collaboration & Advisory:
- Work closely with various departments to provide compliance advice and support.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance matters, offering guidance and recommendations.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies and auditors as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, including audits, investigations, and training sessions.
- Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Liaison and Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors regarding compliance matters.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure integrated compliance efforts across the organization
- Actively assist the Department Head with the preparation of the monthly budget.
- Develop and manage all budget items, including cost control and expenditure forecasting.
- Ensure the budget is in line with the department’s scheduled activities.
- Supervise the team to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget.
- Carry out performance appraisals and development plans with subordinate staff.
- Coordinate the leave schedule of subordinate staff.
- Bachelor of Laws is mandatory.
- Master of Laws is a plus.
- Multicultural experience is a plus.
- Fluency in both English and French is mandatory.
- A minimum of 8+ years of experience in a legal and/or compliance role, in the Oil & Gas/power generation industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience with Power Purchase Agreements.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Ability to analyze complex regulations, policies, and procedures, and assess their impact on compliance.
- Proven experience in conducting audits, developing policies, and managing compliance programs.
