MECHANICAL / ELECTRICAL / CONTROLS & INSTRUMENTATION (C&I) RELIABILITY SUPERINTENDENTSubsidiary: Genser Energy Côte d’Ivoire SA (GECS)Location: Côte d’Ivoire (West Africa)Report Directly to: Plant ManagerDesignation Level: Functional HeadPlease note that only CVs submitted in English will be considered.We are hiring several Superintendents: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Controls & Instrumentation / Electronics Engineering Background. Understanding English is mandatory.OBJECTIVE: The Reliability Superintendents will be responsible for identifying and managing asset reliability risks that could adversely affect the power plant system and operations. The Reliability Superintendents will ensure the availability of assets and overall reliability (equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, safety/security systems) through good practices of monitoring and maintenance. This role is crucial in maintaining operational integrity and efficiency and reducing downtime.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operational Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the Reliability Team to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • CMMS: Assist the Plant Manager to develop planned maintenance with the use of CMMS.
  • Safety & Compliance: Establish and enforce safety protocols, maintenance procedures, and environmental regulations to maintain a safe and compliant facility.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Budget Management: Support the Plant Manager to develop and manage the plant’s operational budget, including cost control and expenditure forecasting.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and ensure all staff are trained for effective response to incidents.
  • Reporting: Support the Plant Manager to prepare regular reports for senior management and the client, detailing plant performance, safety, and compliance metrics.
ENGINEERING, PROCUREMENT & CONSTRUCTION (EPC)
  • Assist the EPC Project Team during the Construction, Installation and Commissioning phases.
  • Review Authorized for Construction drawings (AFCs), P&IDs, and commissioning checklists.
  • Review all Red Lines and As Built Drawings to confirm accuracy and compliance with original designs and modifications.
  • Supervise the completion of installation tasks during the construction phase, while ensuring adherence to industry regulations
  • Make recommendations to the Health & Safety Team to develop strategies to improve standards.
  • Ensure that warranty and punch list issues are effectively managed after commissioning.
  • Ensure adherence with quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) standards.
OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE (OM)
  • Responsible for adhering to the life cycle asset management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of assets: turbines, pipe systems, tubbing systems, hand valves and pipe fittings, boilers, switchgears, voltage regulators, rotating equipment, protection relays, cooling systems, instrumentation and control devices, pumps and valves, auxiliary power units, tanks, vessels, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.
  • Optimize combined cycle efficiency through coordinated gas/steam turbine maintenance.
  • Implement advanced PdM (e.g., vibration analysis (Bently Nevada), thermography, oil/lubricant testing, motor current analysis, and performance trending).
  • Oversee HRSG health (tube thickness, creep, fatigue) and water/steam chemistry compliance.
  • Analyze plant data (PI System, Maximo) to track MTBF, MTTR, starts/stops, heat rate deviations, and availability losses.
  • Collaborate with operations to refine startup/shutdown procedures reducing thermal cycling damage.
  • Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect the plant operations (capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues):
  • Ensure the optimum utilization of the CCMS.
  • Statistical process control.
  • Reliability modeling and prediction.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Provide input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact the plant operations.
  • Execute predictive and preventive maintenance to eliminate catastrophic failures and unplanned maintenance.
  • Review the supporting documentation for permits to work and submit it for approval in compliance with company policies.
BUDGETING
  • Actively assist the Department Head with the preparation of the monthly budget.
  • Develop and manage all budget items, including cost control and expenditure forecasting.
  • Ensure the budget is in line with the department’s scheduled activities.
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Supervise the team to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget.
  • Carry out performance appraisals and development plans with subordinate staff.
  • Coordinate the leave schedule of subordinate staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, or Electromechanical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Multicultural experience is a plus.
  • Fluency in both English and French is mandatory.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry, specifically in power generation reliability, with hands-on exposure to gas turbines (Bergen, GE, Siemens, or similar piston/combustion engines) and / or steam turbines (Siemens, GE, Mitsubishi).
  • For C&I Systems, strong experience with DCS/PLC logic, turbine control systems (MARK VIe, Ovation), and instrumentation calibration.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants, including Process Safety Management, OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, EEOC guidelines, and other federal and local requirements.
  • Familiarity with Instrumentation and Industrial Automation, Supervision Systems (SCADA and HMI), PLC-PAC programming, and industrial networks.
